Endless hot water bliss

So, obviously the big question is whether this water heater is better than a traditional storage tank. The short answer is, "Definitely."The biggest benefit to a tankless water heater is the endless supply of hot water, and this unit really delivers. For about the same priceas an efficient tank heater, you can have this unit which heats water on-demand. We have it supplying two bathrooms, and reallyappreciate having all the heated water we need for our family of four.The other great feature about this model is that it is simpler to install than an indoor tankless, as no additional venting is necessary.This reduces the cost and complexity of installation, as well as minimizing the space needed to install it.Keep in mind that, although the dimensions of this heater are fairly compact, it will require several connections for water, gas and electrical supply.These pipes extend below the unit for an additional 18 to 24", depending on how compact an installation you are trying to achieve.If you are putting the unit in a fairly visible outdoor location on the house, you will certainly want the pipe covers available as a separate purchase.Rheem RTG20217XG Rheem RRTG20217XG Grey Pipe CoversAnother unexpected installation cost may be the service ball valve connections Rheem RTG20220 Tankless Water Heater Service Valve Kit with Pressure Relief Valve.These shutoff valves are required for code compliance, but are a practical necessity, as well. hot water all day in from a small package

our tiny new house had a giant water heater in the laundry room taking up way too much space. i changed it out for this one and could not be happier. saved a good chunk of valuable space. was pretty easy to install too. (make sure you have a large enough gas supply line, won't hurt to oversize). because of the low NOx emmisions you are more , there are less restrictions to where you can place the unit outside. it also looks pretty good outside although you can spend extra dough to get a n enclosure for it (i did not). the factory temperature setting of 120 is fine for us. whe have a really big bathtub and you get it started on the temp you like and the temp does not change till it is full. the giant 50 gallon that was in here before would have been out of water by the time the tub is full. niiiiiiiiiccccccccccccceeeeeeeeeeif i was rich i would have got the condensing model which they say is more efficient.overall i am digging it. hopefully it will last a long time
