This Smart Technology electric tankless water heater is configured as a "whole home" model for climates where incoming water temperature is 62°F and above. The ECO 18 is capable of heating over 2.5 gallons per minute, which is the equivalent of one water saver shower head (with a 1.5 gpm flow) and one sink with a low inlet water temperature of 62°F, and an output setting of 105° F. Two showers emitting no more than 1.5 gpm each can be run simultaneously when incoming water temperature is above 70° F. Digital temperature control allows you to set your temperature in increments of 1°. All tankless water heaters are sized based on flow rate and temperature rise, and there is a direct relationship between the two. So if used in a cold area requiring a high temperature rise, it will be more limited in the amount of fixtures (gallons per minute) it can heat at one time compared to a warmer climate. However, when sized properly it will provide endless hot water and only consume the energy needed, giving the user complete control. Prior to purchase and installation please verify this model is the right size for the expected demand and electrical requirements. The ECO 18 requires a minimum 150 amp electrical panel for installation with (2) 40 amp double pole breakers connected to (2) sets of #8 awg wire. Plumbing connections are 3/4" NPT. eco smart 18 tankless hot water heater

I would first like to comment on the people that make up the eco smart company. I first was interested in a tankless hot water heater by talking to a few home owners who have them. Most of them had gas or propane. My home is total electric. Eco smart company builds electric tankless hot water heaters. When I called eco smart the first time, I talked to one of their techs. When giving him my information on the size, type, and usage of my house, he gave me the size water heater that I needed. He answered several questions that I had, also. I checked with two large chain home improvement stores in my area and they did not have a good selection of this kind of a product. There are two stores in town that sell eco smart products. This is where I got a lot of information on eco smart products. By now, I was convinced that eco smart was the company to go with. Thanks to amazon. com I found the best price, so I ordered the eco smart 18 to go in my house. I have had this product installed in my house now for a couple a months. We have been amazed at this product. It has done everything that the company says it will do and more. This product came with a lifetime warranty. I have talked to Albert that works with Eco smart a couple a times since I have installed my water heater. He has been very helpful in answering any questions I have had. I highly recommend this product and also,am very pleased with the concern of the eco smart company, that their customers are satisfied with their products.

Looks Like It Will Be a Winner!!

This is the third electric tankless water heater with which I have had some experience. The first two were of a different brand, but I opted to go with this one for my most recent foray because of the price and the reviews.Like any installation of an electric tankless water heater, it's always easiest to do when you're doing new construction. Trying to retrofit a home for one of these would be much more difficult just because of the electrical requirements. In this case, I was installing in a volunteer fire department where hot water isn't used everyday but when it is used, they need a large volume of it. So it seemed ideal to use an electric tankless water heater. Thankfully, the location for the heater wasn't too far from the breaker box, and it wasn't too difficult to run the wiring because of a dropped ceiling that gave access where needed.However, a cost that potential buyers should think about is the cost of WIRING. This installation requires two separate double-pole circuits with 8-gauge copper wire, and that is not cheap. In my case, I needed approximately 80 feet of wire for both circuits.Hookup isn't difficult at all. The wire is understandably stiff for that gauge wire; so you have to be aware of it, but it's not insurmountable. Because there are two separate circuits, you must remember to keep the two hot leads for each circuit separate: that is, each double-pole circuit's hot leads need to stay paired up.I used flexible water heater connectors (braided metal) for the plumbing side of it and then connected to CPVC. Again, it's not complicated.Construction on the inside looks solid and actually quite elegant. The basic premise of the circuit is simple. Two heating elements (each one is fed by its own circuit, hence the need for two circuits) are provided power through high current relays that are controlled by a microprocessor. The relays are kept cool by a heat sink that is connected to the incoming water line. A flowmeter is attached to the inlet; so the heaters do not operate until it detects water flowing. The display on the heater lights up whenever it's switched on and gives an indication of the water temperature that you've selected. You can select up to 140 degrees F, but I've kept ours at 120 F thus far. There are safety features built in in the form of thermostats on the inlet and outlet to disable the current if temperatures exceed a safe level.Because this heater is designed for low flow rates (2-3 gallons per minute), users should be reasonable with their expectations. It is NOT designed to run two bathrooms, a kitchen, a dishwasher, and a washing machine simultaneously. I had two sinks going at once, and the temperature did drop some, but it is quite manageable. One thing you can do to minimize frustration is to just reduce the flow when multiple locations are used. Most people want to turn on the water full force; just turn it on halfway or less and you will have sufficient hot water for 2 or more locations simultaneously with only minor issues.This unit has not been in service too long yet; so I can't speak to long-term use issues, but I am impressed thus far with the ease of installation and the quality of construction.

This is the best Water heater I have ever had! Fairly easy install. Running the 8 gauge wires was a a little hard and putting in 2 double pole 40s in the box wasnt to bad. We live in idaho and the water temp in the winter comes into our house at 32 degrees and with this we have nice hot water!
